About the Journal

The name Academos is inspired by the place where Plato once taught, symbolizing the origins of academic life and intellectual exchange. Today, the journal continues this legacy as a modern platform for rigorous research, critical reflection, and open dialogue in the social sciences.

Academos is an international, open-access, peer-reviewed journal that provides an inclusive space for scholars, researchers, and practitioners to explore the pressing issues shaping contemporary society. It publishes original research, theoretical contributions, critical reviews, and policy-focused papers with an emphasis on interdisciplinary and global perspectives.

Academos journal is an international interdisciplinary scientific project of the Academy “Riste Stefanov” – Skopje, a civil society organization registered in North Macedonia. The journal operates independently and is not institutionally affiliated with, funded by, or officially endorsed by any university or faculty. By embracing this wide-ranging scope, our aim is not to dilute specialization but rather to create a forum for synthesis, where insights from the social sciences, humanities, and emerging technologies can inform one another and lead to new understandings. In that sense, Academos seeks to revive the spirit of the classical academy as a space of open exchange, critical reflection, and intellectual curiosity.
